Next Door’s Fall 2018 Newsletter

Our latest newsletter offers a glimpse at a busy start to the 2018-2019 school year at Next Door!

We’re excited to welcome the Leading Men Fellowship program to Next Door this fall. Run by the Literacy Lab of Washington D.C., this program engages young men of color to explore a career in early childhood education while helping organizations, like Next Door, get children ready for school. We have six fellows from Milwaukee working at Next Door. One of those fellows – Isouma Shine – is featured in a story in this latest newsletter.

You can also read about Next Door’s latest efforts to combat the national teacher shortage. In the new Early Childhood Scholars program, Next Door is partnering with Milwaukee Area Technical College on an opportunity for Next Door parents to earn a Child Development Associate credential to begin a career in early childhood education. Our second class of students began their work earlier this month.

Our children are keeping busy this fall with plenty of highly engaging classroom activities – a photo college in the newsletter offers a peek inside all three of our locations. There is also a look at a special visit our students enjoyed from the Milwaukee Brewers and the generous gifts the team donated for our students.
