Milwaukee Journal Sentinel profiles “Read with Me” volunteer

We were thrilled to welcome the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to Next Door this month for coverage of our “Read with Me” volunteer program. This program pairs community readers with our students for some one-on-one or small group story time in our Books for Kids library.

The newspaper’s coverage was part of the weekly “Better Angels” column from reporter, Crocker Stephenson. He celebrates the people behind various acts of kindness around Milwaukee and what drives them to give back to their community. For his column at Next Door, he featured one of our dedicated “Read with Me” volunteers, L’Tanya Brabham of Milwaukee. In the piece, Brabham talks about her love of reading as a child and how that motivated her to spend part of her retirement volunteering with children at Next Door.

In addition to the column, the Journal Sentinel featured a video and photo gallery about Brabham and the “Read with Me” program.” Click here to check it all out!
