Wisconsin Dept. of Workforce Development Profiles Next Door Teacher

Next Door Associate Teacher, Courtney Calhoun, is working to advance her career in early childhood education through a new apprenticeship program with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
The Early Childcare Educator Apprenticeship is part of a statewide effort to address the current workforce shortage in early childhood education. Through the two-year program, teachers like Courtney, receive valuable resources like mentorship from experienced teachers and more than 400 hours of paid instruction from Milwaukee Area Technical College. After completing the apprenticeship, participants become eligible to serve as head teachers in their classrooms.
