Council for a Strong America Visits Next Door

On March 8th, Next Door welcomed the Council for a Strong America for a press conference, addressing the critical need to invest in early childhood care and education.  This organization serves as a national advocate for high-quality, early learning experiences as a way to shape strong, productive citizens. The council works with members of law enforcement, the military, business leaders, pastors and athletes to help spread its message – with the hope of influencing policies advancing opportunities for our youngest learners.

For the press conference, the council selected Next Door’s Educare Milwaukee as the host and invited three high-profile leaders from Wisconsin to speak: Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn, Northwestern Mutual Chairman and CEO, John Schlifske, and retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, Gerald Clusen. They each spoke about the importance of early childhood education in enhancing public safety, national security and economic vitality. The event began with introductory remarks from Next Door’s Angela Lampkin, Director of Head Start and Early Start programming. Later on, the three special guests spent time reading with some of our students.

The event drew several members of the media. Below are links to some of the coverage.
