PNC Bank delivers big surprise for Next Door teachers!

The week of April 9th, 2018 began with a joyous, surprise delivery to Next Door from PNC Bank.

The bank donated nearly $8,000 in gift cards for Next Door teachers to fund projects through DonorsChoose.org.  That is a program PNC began partnering with in 2017 to help early childhood education professionals enhance classroom resources and keep students engaged during a critical period of brain development.

The bank’s Regional President for Wisconsin, Chris Goller, was on hand for the Next Door surprise, and he recognized one of Next Door’s teachers who has successfully implemented projects funded through DonorsChoose.org in the past.  Teacher, Brittany Light, used some of the money to purchase supplies that helped teach children about different races and cultures. When Light found out that she and her fellow teachers would be receiving more funding this year from PNC, she immediately broke out in tears of joy!

In addition to the gift cards, PNC donated several iPads to Next Door to further enhance the learning experience.

Goller also spent time reading with some of our students during his visit. He treated them to one of their favorite stories – “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.

We are so grateful for this support from PNC and look forward to seeing our students flourish in the classroom!
